Precision for a Technique That Demands It
AI Base Reading
Reads natural level, underlying warm pigment and any existing colour to determine the starting point before you mix anything.
Lightener Selection
Recommends the correct lightener and developer volume for the level of lift needed — not a generic 30 vol blanket suggestion.
Toner Formula
Toner shade calculated to complement the lifted result — preventing brassy or ashy surprises after the foils come off.
Seamless Melt Planning
ColourKey recommends how to handle the shadow root or melt zone so the foilayage blends naturally into the base.
Timing Per Section
Processing time adjusted for hair density and porosity — knowing when to check each foil is as important as the formula.
Client Profile
Every foilayage formula saved with before and after photos. Repeat the exact result at the next visit without re-guessing.

Foilayage Formula Questions
What is the difference between foilayage and balayage in the formula?
Foilayage uses foils to create heat and faster, more controlled lift — so the lightener formula often differs from open-air balayage. ColourKey accounts for this when you select the Highlights service type.
Can ColourKey plan the toner melt for foilayage?
Yes. The transformation mode detects where the shadow root needs to be and recommends a separate formula for the melt zone versus the lifted lengths.
Does it work for dark bases going lighter with foilayage?
Yes. For dark bases (level 1–4), ColourKey may flag a multi-session plan and recommend pre-lightening in stages — preventing heat damage from attempting too much lift in one service.
Which brands are supported?
Wella (Blondor, Koleston, Color Touch), Redken (Flash Lift, Shades EQ), L'Oreal (Platifiant, Dia Richesse), Schwarzkopf (BLONDME, Igora Vibrance), La Biosthétique and Goldwell (LightDimensions, Colorance).
